The Prius Prime isn’t necessarily a mass-volume vehicle. Not as many Prius Prime units will be sold as regular Prius units, for instance. So rather than focusing on major redesigns every few years, it seems as though Toyota is sticking to a different plan of simply introducing minor upgrades and enhancements each year. The same can be said this year, as some subtle changes to the specs & features of the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime have us quite excited about the new model.

What’s new in the 2020 Prius Prime?
Quite a few great features have been added for the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime, all of which were very important to fans of the vehicle and we’re pretty excited about. Perhaps the most exciting of all of them is that the hybrid sedan now comes equipped with its very own fifth seat. Before, only three passengers could fit with you in the vehicle, but now you can squeeze a fourth in there on those trips when you really need it.
Technology has been enhanced in several ways, starting with the standardization of Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Rear passengers also now have access to USB ports as two new 2.1A ports have been added to the vehicle’s rear. While that does it for tech, another great feature makes things more comfortable and convenient – a sun visor extender. Might seem inconsequential, but this is a big add!
In the cabin, black interior accents have replaced the old white accents to create a more premium feel in the cabin while the seat heater buttons for the front seats were moved around to enhance their ease of use. Finally, the grade strategy has changed for the Prius Prime lineup, as it now features LE, XLE and Limited trim levels. Naturally, which features come standard or remain available on each trim level has also shifted.
