The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is one of Wisconsin’s natural treasures and is one of the nation’s 11 National Scenic Trails. The thousand-mile trail starts at Interstate Park in Dresser and works its way through the state to Potawatomi State Park in Sturgeon Bay. The trail offers dispersed camping for those taking on multi-day hiking adventures. The Janesville Segment is the trail’s southernmost segment and is just over 10 miles. Another notable 1.9-mile segment of the trail is Devil’s Staircase in Riverside Park. If you’re an avid hiker, definitely consider checking out the Ice Age Scenic Trail!

Shieffer Park / Northeast Regional Park

Sheiffer Park, which was previously named Northeast Regional Park, is nestled on the eastern side of Janesville and includes a recently installed paved trail that makes its way thought the park. There is a 3.2-mile loop trail that weaves through the open prairie and woods of the 87-acre park.

Robert O. Cook Memorial Arboretum

The Robert O. Cook Memorial Arboretum is maintained by the Janesville Public School District and features five miles of hiking trails that make their way through a scenic forest setting and wetlands. Additionally, the arboretum is a part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail Arbor Ridge Segment.
